As both a manufacturing facility and the European Application Development Center for our fine particles for plastic applications, our team in Pepinster is dedicated to providing the highest quality products while upholding the highest safety, health and environmental standards.
Our facility is located in Eastern Belgium and manufactures black plastic masterbatches and compounds containing carbon black, additives and thermoplastic resins used in construction, automotive, agriculture, packaging and other plastic applications. We employ more than 60 enthusiastic employees and work closely with our colleagues from the other masterbatch plant in Loncin, Belgium, which is located about 35 kilometers away from our facility.
Aside the manufacturing facility, Pepinster also hosts the Application Development Center (ADC), which is Cabot's Center of Excellence for plastics applications, delivering innovation and new developments in the field of polyolefins and engineering polymers, for carbon black and silica globally.
Here at Cabot Pepinster, we pride ourselves on all being able to contribute to a culture that fosters entrepreneurship, innovation and accountability. We place a strong emphasis on collaboration and teamwork and believe everyone should have a voice. Our people share four core values: respect, integrity, responsibility and excellence in everything we do.
Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E)
Global Sustainability Day
We recently dedicated a full day to participating in Cabot's Global Sustainability Day. This day is dedicated to increasing our employee’s awareness and proposing best practices in sustainability and safety in the plant as well as at home. This is also the occasion to celebrate the commitment of our teams to work safely each and every day.
Community Outreach & Social Responsibility
Ukraine Support: SOS Children Villages
Our Loncin and Pepinster sites recently donated 15,000 euros to “SOS Village d’Efants” to help Ukrainian children refugees and their mothers who came to Belgium after escaping the war.
SOS Village d’Enfants is an international non-governmental organization supporting vulnerable families. The donation will also help fund a new Belgian center “Marche-en Famenne,” which offers shelter, assistance and psychosocial support to 2,000 children and 700 families.
Flood Recovery Efforts
The Cabot Corporation Foundation funded a grant of €75,000 to Centres Publics d'Action Sociale, a municipal agency located in Pepinster, Belgium to support the July 2021 catastrophic flood recovery efforts.
As a member of the Pepinster community with a masterbatch facility that was impacted by the flood, this funding helps to provide social, medical and psychological assistance to individuals and families affected in the area, including financial assistance, meals, household clothing and goods, and other critical services. It also helps people whose homes were destroyed or deemed uninhabitable find alternative housing as they rebuild and recover.
In addition to Acting Responsibly for our Planet in our own operations, we are also committed to doing our part in our local communities. Our Pepinster, Belgium site participated in a cleanup of the Hoëgne River in partnership with Operation Clean Rivers.
Furthermore, “The Small Ants of the River Hoëgne,” a group of Pepinster community members, which includes Cabot employees have been working together to remove debris from the banks of the river as part of the July 2021 flood recovery efforts.
The Homework School
Cabot Loncin and Pepinster are proud to sponsor the Homework School - l’Ecole des devoirs – “La Place”- in the multicultural and popular district of Saint Léonard Léonard in Liège since 2019.
The goal of this initiative goes beyond homework coaching. It also offers sports, games, crafts, theater workshops, cooking and journalism. The aim is to help children to reinforce a positive self-image and help them become responsible, active, optimistic and supportive citizens.
Pink Ribbon March
Throughout the month of May 2022, the Loncin and Pepinster site participated in the The Pink March, an initiative that is part of the fight against breast cancer.
All employees were encouraged to walk a minimum of 10,000 steps a day. Together with other participants in Belgium, the team walked toward a goal of enough steps to cover the circumference of the earth five times.
Safety and Sustainability Days
On May 31 and June 1, 2021, our Loncin and Pepinster sites organized and celebrated their Safety and Sustainability Days.
On the first day, the agenda focused on “Safety” and our goal of zero accidents. Team members completed workshops about specific topics such as the risk of falling or slipping, risk identifications at her/his workstation, and hazards linked to ergonomics. The second day was focused on “Sustainability” and our sustainability-related objectives. Topics like Operation Clean Sweep, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the sorting and recycling of wastes were discussed.
Life at Cabot
Let’s walk or jog together
The team puts great emphasis on spending quality time together and building strong teams.
Thanks to its location in a rural area, every month a one-hour walk or jog is organized during lunch time in order to relax, exercise and foster the team-spirit of the employees.
FAKUMA International Trade Fair
Our local Sales and Technical Support teams routinely attend and participate in the FAKUMA International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing, which is held every three years in Düsseldorf.
Our team likes to get together and have fun, like at our end of the year party.
